Organization: Plan International UK
Country: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Closing date: 03 Dec 2019

We are recruiting for a Technical Team Manager who specialises in the area of Sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR), to cover a maternity leave in the Development Programmes Unit (DPU), which sits within the Policy and Programmes Directorate at Plan International UK.

Plan International UK is a global children’s charity. We work to give every child the same chance in life. The Policy and Programmes Directorate is responsible for the delivery of high-quality policy and programmes. In DPU, we support Country Offices by helping them to design high quality programmes, and by raising the funds from institutional donors needed to implement them. We then oversee the management of grants and contracts awarded and ensure donor compliance and effective programme monitoring, evaluation and learning.

In this role, you will manage a team of three Technical Specialists, covering the areas of Education, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship (YEE). You will be the technical lead for the area of Sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR). SRHR is one of Plan’s key thematic focus areas for its programming and influencing work. We take a rights-based and gender transformative approach to SRHR, to address the underlying causes and structural drivers that hinder the realisation of adolescent SRHR, including child marriage, female genital mutilation (FGM) and gender-based violence.

You will provide technical input to proposals and tenders produced by the Development Programmes Unit, working closely with regional-focused Programme Development Specialists who are the key Country Office focal points. You’ll also provide targeted support to the Disaster Risk Management Unit and the Major Partnerships Unit in areas of highest priority and give gender technical support to projects during implementation, working closely with the Gender Advisor. Building gender sensitivity into proposals and ensuring that proposals are gender transformative where possible are key to this role.

This is a demanding role, that requires the ability to coordinate the work of the team in order to achieve effective joint working on proposals and projects. You’ll need to have the proven experience of working successfully with internal and external colleagues and stakeholders and you’ll have the ability to develop and maintain sectoral networks and leverage these to identify potential new funding opportunities and partnerships for Plan International UK.

The deadline for applications is 9:00 am on 3 December 2019

Interviews will take place on 10 December 2019

We anticipate that this post will be required until March 2021

Due to the nature of our work with children, we follow rigorous child safeguarding policies and procedures in our recruitment process. As a result, some of our roles are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from joining us as an employee or volunteer; this will depend on the circumstances of any offences.
