Plan International UK strives to advance children’s rights and equality for girls all over the world. Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children. We have been building powerful partnerships for children for 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.
The Policy and Programmes Directorate supports our aims by ensuring that we deliver the highest quality policy and programmes. We constantly enhance programme quality and effectiveness, raise income from institutional donors (like the British Government), and drive change through setting and influencing policy agendas. A new Commercial Practice Unit has been established within the Directorate to compete and collaborate with private sector consultancies, focusing on securing new commercial contracts and positioning Plan International UK as a credible commercial partner.
We’re recruiting a Commercial Practice Adviser to support this unit and its key objective to secure new funded contracts by building on our priority strategic areas. In the role, you will research new business leads in target technical areas. You will support our expansion into new areas, particularly those traditionally occupied by the commercial sector. You will also analyse the competition, potential partners and the donor’s requirements and make recommendations on our potential to win and then support the tender and contracting process.
With a track record of working on successful new business initiatives and tenders, you will have experience of supporting business development. Ideally you will have had some project management experience working with country based teams and have contributed to the design of new projects in a development or relief context in Asia and/or Africa. Familiarity with donor trends, contracting approaches (particularly within the DFID landscape) and our role in the international development market will be highly relevant .
The deadline for applications is 9:00am on Thursday 28 June 2018
Interviews will take place on Thursday 5 and Friday 6 July 2018
Due to the nature of our work with children, we follow rigorous child protection policies and procedures in our recruitment process. As a result, some of our roles are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from joining us as an employee or volunteer; this will depend on the circumstances of any offences.
